In Tribute by flominowa In Tribute by flominowa
So this has been in the works for a few weeks now. Catching Fire came out in Tokyo last December and of course I went to the theater on opening night (accompanied by a bottle of Bacardi to subdue the feels) and totally loved it. Most of the time I was just softly weeping "Peetaaa"... I started this illu that night and left it on the drawing board for ages. Happy to get it done tho, and every bit of this was fun to draw!

I'm determined to do a better job at keeping up my art in 2014!

Oh also, I've watched like every existing YouTube interview of Jennifer Lawrence and I absolutely adore her.

I really love how you turned the classic composition of the strong male, holding the fragile female around.
Also, totally how I imagine Katniss! :)

This is one of the most beautiful and creative Hunger Games fan arts I've ever seen.

This is just gorgeous! One of the best fanarts for hunger games I've seen in a while. I love the poppies, love how Peeta looks so comforted in Katniss's arms, love how Katniss's eyes are looking heavenward. Does the red kite mean anything? I read in one of the comments that the flowers are poppies. Don't know if this was intentional or not, but poppies are a flower which are very symbolically linked with war and remembrance of those who have died in battle. It made me think of a poem, which goes in part:

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
         In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
         In Flanders fields.
